McKenna grew up dancing competitively. In her freshman year of high school, she begged her mom to try her first diet. Looking back, McKenna really didn't need to lose weight, but with being a dancer, she was very body conscious. She didn't lose much weight.
In order to prepare for her audition to the dance program, she did a strict 'eat-every-two-hours' diet, getting to her lowest weight. But during a trip to Mexico for Spring Break 2017, McKenna broke her foot. This took her out of dance altogether until the end of the year. She got a full-time job, which had her sitting all day long, and gained around 50-60 lbs. She tried Keto, low carb, etc., but nothing worked to lose weight. Then, in October of 2018, her mom sent her a YouTube video about IF. She also discovered this podcast. They both started 16:8, and haven't looked back! So far, McKenna has lost 33 lbs, and she feels so very free.
Some of the health benefits she's experienced: her skin has smoothed out, her acne is better, she no longer needs her glasses, her foot has stopped hurting, and some of her scars are gone! She also enjoys "brain clarity" and "mental focus."
The advice McKenna would give to new IFers: "Be patient, your body is going to get to where you're most happy. Clean fast, take it day by day. Some days are hard, so remind yourself why you're doing this, and how good you feel. You'll be thankful for why you stuck with it!"
