The coronavirus pandemic did not create these problems, but the pandemic is now exacerbating these challenges and impacting universities’ bottom lines. Endowments, tuition revenue, charitable contributions, and state appropriations have and will continue to be impacted by the economic effects of business shutdowns precipitated by the coronavirus.
