Being Salt And Light In The World

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus uses two metaphors to describe His followers: “salt of the earth”, and “light of the world”. He expects His followers to impact and influence the world for His glory. We are to invade our culture in the way that salt invades food and light invades the darkness. Christians must get off the side-lines and get into the game! We cannot be silent, passive, or irrelevant. We must engage the culture, promote Biblical values, speak the truth, and live for Jesus and tell people about Jesus wherever and whenever we can—this is being salt and light.
