In the first of probably several episodes about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, I present a 2013 longitudinal study that gives us the reality of ADHD diagnoses in black youth. I reference Hotep Superior’s comments again and refute his body of work on ADHD in regards to the importance of diagnosing and treating ADHD properly. I provide the diagnostic criteria for the different types of ADHD. I discuss some barriers to why black youth are under-diagnosed with ADHD or mental health in general. I also discuss some concerns and misunderstandings about Special Education services.
