207. The Geospatial Pharmacist and Patient Advocate feat. Dr. Jing Wu
Intended Audience: Everyone
πΊοΈπ Environments, zip codes, and locations are DIRECTLY related to health outcomes. ππ
How do we USE this information? π
On todayβs episode, we had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Jing Wu on her role at Esri as an account executive for GIS and its relation to public health. This is an exciting new and VERY niche field that leverages location information analytics to identify opportunities for improvement in patient care and public health. Not only that, but GIS can also assist in shaping care access strategies to ensure public access to the necessary healthcare services in the various spaces.
In this episode, Dr. Wu discusses:
β
What is GIS (Geospatial Information Systems)
β
Use cases of GIS in healthcare (i.e. addressing the opioid epidemic)
β
How pharmacists are important in analyzing GIS data and finding ways to strategically apply it
In addition, Dr. Jing Wu also shares some of her work in being a passionate patient advocate. Dr. Wuβs personal journey fuels much of her passion in what she does to ensure patients, survivors, and caregivers have access to support, guidance, assistance, and much more through her non-profit work at The MindReset. π
