#95 Maple Leaf Construction Demolition Waterproofing Underpinning and Termite
Chris comes from the Hospitality sector and Jason was always in construction and they thought let’s partner and take on the construction world. Wasn’t an easy task. It all began with a bin business, that led into more reno work, then it was too much to handle without any proper organization so Chris and Jason sat down during the early Covid days and came up with this Business and Employee Guideline Plan they developed and that is when their business actually became a proper business. We begin chatting about termite issues and how termites love nesting inside spray foam, they will build a colony twice as fast in foam over wood. But we get right back into running the business and learning what is and isn’t working from the way the employees arrive on site to deliverables. One of their key guidelines, set hours, you begin and end at a certain time, that way every employee can have a personal life. What a crazy idea that is.
The guidelines talk about personal hygiene, clothing and work uniform – no track pants Carlito, tool care and use, driving habits and company vehicle usage, smoking, language on site, manners and more. This guideline was developed to build a better team and eventually a better brand.
This podcast has been a great resource for so many trades to reach out to people that have been on the show and even Maple Leaf has reached out to Jorge from DGR to talk shop. We love that our little podcast is adding to the construction industry.
Don’t forget we have Construction History from Manny at the beginning of the show, Building Code Talk with Manny at the midpoint and Green Book Talk with Carlito at the near end.
Thank You so much Chris and Jason for joining the show, sharing all of that information about your beginnigns and where Maple Leaf Construction is heading and changign the industry. Find them at @maple.leaf.construction www.mapleleafgc.ca info@mapleleafgc.ca and the phone number is 416 895-2330.
