Last night, Senator Kamala Harris officially became the first Black woman ever on a major party's presidential ticket, after formally accepting her party's nomination for vice president. President Trump is calling for a boycott of Goodyear Tires, over the company's policy on political speech in the workplace — a move Democrats say could cost jobs, at a time when the country is already in an economic crisis. In Northern California this morning, the Bay Area is partly surrounded by a series of major wildfires, threatening thousands of homes and blanketing the region with dangerous smoke. President Putin's most prominent critic in Russia is fighting for his life this morning, after a suspected poisoning. Teachers' unions in two of the biggest U.S. cities are threatening walkouts over returning to school during the coronavirus pandemic.
