The chapter on Philippians in A Biblical-Theological Introduction to the New Testament: The Gospel Realized is helpful for understanding the structure of the book. An excellent introductory commentary on Philippians that reads like a devotional is D. A. Carson’s Basic for Believers. A more recent commentary and series worth exploring is Lynn Cohick’s volume in the Story of God Bible Commentary series. Listeners that want to do some real digging into the theological, history, and literary form of Philippians should consult Gordon Fee’s volume in the NICNT series.
