Nate would recommend A Concise Guide to Reading the New Testament by David Nienhuis as a helpful resource on not just Luke, but the rest of the New Testament. We would also recommend the Lexham Geographic Commentary on the Gospels for insight into many of Jesus’ teachings and miracles in Luke, as well as the other Gospels. Listeners will also find the chapter in A Biblical-Theological Introduction to the New Testament: The Gospel Realized helpful. More advanced readers will benefit from The Feasts of Repentance: From Luke-Acts to Systematic and Pastoral Theology by Michael Ovey. It is part of the New Studies in Biblical Theology series that we would all recommend. The insight that Nate mentioned connecting Luke 24 to Genesis 3 comes from N. T. Wright’s Jesus and The Victory of God, which while a daunting read, repays the effort as it helps one understand how Matthew, Mark, and Luke relate to each other and the Old Testament as well. Lastly, for a visual overview of Luke, The Bible Project videos are helpful: https://youtu.be/XIb_dCIxzr0 and https://youtu.be/26z_KhwNdD8
