Homosexuality in India & Hindu Spirituality

Why is there such difficulty in accepting homosexuality in India and the Hindu tradition? As a culture that is otherwise so open and embracing, what is the issue with accepting our gay, bi-sexual or transgender sisters and brothers? In beautiful words of love and support, Pujya Sadhviji congratulates one of her Indian viewers for the courageous step that he took in coming-out publicly as a gay man and explains that the core of the Hindu tradition – in teachings and rituals - is to go beyond the limitations and calls of the human body and to remember that we are Divine. Hence, a significant reason for what seems to be discrimination towards the gay community.
