FamilySearch is FREE. Anyone can sign up for an account to use the site. The access might be different for different people dependent on our contracts with the original repository/archives.
An example of that is that the Italian State Archives (DGA) limits access of the civil registration records on FamilySearch to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; however—everything that FamilySearch puts online from the DGA is also available for free on the Italian government’s website here:
