Controversial Thoughts: What’s the deal with Stearic Acid- Magical or Hype?
Stearic acid is an 18 carbon saturated fat that has intriguing effects on the human body. It's been shown to positively affect mitochondrial activity, and diets that are low in cause mitochondria to change activity and phenotype in negative ways. Mouse models of this fatty acid also suggest some profoundly powerful effects on glucose tolerance and visceral fat when compared to oleic acid (18C monounsaturated fat), and linoleic acid (18C polyunsaturated fat). I break it all down in this video and share my RBC fatty acid levels as well as a compelling n=1 case study of Emmy's weight loss with dietary shifts away toward more stearic acid and less linoleic acid.
