Do you ever stop and think about the humans underneath the paramedic uniforms?
Superheroes disguised as every day humans that swoon in and save your life, then swoon off again to save the next one without batting an eyelid.
Yeah neither did I... until I did.
This career path and the humans who choose it fascinate and inspire me. Tony Walker is CEO of Ambulance Victoria and today he joins me for a casual banter about the highs (there are plenty) and the lows (likewise, there are plenty) of being a first responder. He speaks openly of the mental health injury risk that paramedics face and the heightened rate of suicides in this particular sector and what the organisation is focusing on to bring this down.
Tony shares a little of his own mental health awareness, journey and experience along with some personal stories... this is one of the many things I like about Tony, you can ask him anything and you'll get an open and honest answer. I feel like that's something that's got to be as rare as hens teeth when you invite a CEO to talk somewhat heavy topics on your podcast.
If you love what you hear, give this podcast a share, perhaps even a review... Our superheroes deserve having their voices heard... just a crying shame my squawking voice is echoing alongside it, but hey!
