Patrice Dutil discusses the traumatic events of 1919 in Canada with Tim Cook and Jack Granatstein, the editors of Canada, 1919: A Nation Shaped By War (University of British Columbia Press). The year was marked by the return of battle-weary soldiers from the Western Front, the devastating impact of the Spanish Flu, the Winnipeg General Strike, Peace Negotiations in Paris, the rise of protest movements in Ontario and the Liberal leadership race that ultimately prompted the rise of MacKenzie King.
