This week on #TubtaNabadda, we mark the International Day of Non-Violence, which is observed annually around the world on 2 October.
We interview Amina Hajji, a prominent peace advocate and head of the non-governmental organization Save Somali Women and Children (SWDC), about why Somalia needs to embrace the principle of non-violence. She also explains how the country can build a culture of peace, tolerance and understanding, and urges all Somalis to coexist peacefully and solve all differences through dialogue.
We also interviewed Abdikafi Mohamud Makaran, chairperson of the Benadir Regional Youth Association, about why it is crucial that youth actively contribute to peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts. He explains how his association advocates for the non-violent and positive engagement of Somali youth in society.
