Brontë Fall on Past, Present, Future, Live! I had the pleasure of sitting down to talk with Teri Bracken, who created a band called Brontë Fall, which has a new album coming out next week. Teri and I talked about her journey from Chicago to Berklee College of Music to Nashville, and the making of her first two albums. Please subscribe to Past, Present, Future, Live!
Dick’s Picks 12 (1974) on 36 From the Vault. Rob and Steven’s Summer Tour is in full swing. In this latest episode, the guys look at Dick’s Picks Vol. 12, which combines shows from Providence (6/26) and Boston (6/28). This Dick’s Picks is a fan favorite, with good reason. This release is a great volume that showcases The Dead’s successes with The Wall Of Sound as well as their heavy focus on improvisation in 1974.
Cochemea on Eric Krasno Plus One. This week Eric talks with Cochemea Gastelum [pronounced Co-chem-e-uh Ga-ste-loom], a saxophonist and composer who made his mark as a member of The Dap-Kings, the potent funk and soul band behind the late great vocalist Sharon Jones. He’s also played with artists from Amy Winehouse to Run The Jewels, always experimenting with effects and other sounds you might not expect from a sax player.
Russ Lawton on No Simple Road. This week’s episode features the crew talking to Russ Lawton, of Trey Anastasio Band, Soule Monde and LaMP (with Scott Metzger and Ray Paczkowski). They touch on this new project, LaMP, what it was like releasing it during the pandemic, what it means for a drummer to find their ‘voice’, and much more.
Comes A Time—Bob Weir, Melvin Seals, Mountain Girl. We wanted to remind you again about this amazing new show on Osiris hosted by Oteil Burbridge and Mike Finoia. The conversations with Bobby, Melvin Seals and Mountain Girl are really great.
