Code of Practice in Early Years - what does this mean
Here the Beckies talk about Codes of Practice, what is it and what does it mean? In Speech and Language Therapy there is a clear route with standards and clinic practice. Support with CPD and reflection in practice. For Early Years there is support through Early Education, PACEY, Early Years Alliance etc, and then there is Ofsted, this is more of an overseeing body...
So it leaves us with the question where is Early Years Code of Practice, What should the bottom line be for Early Years?
What is expected of you, what support is there for you?
How should we feel, what are the minimum practice elements, what expectations are there?
A code of practice can be created for morale and ethical purpose and to extend professionalism.
We want Early Years to have a foundation of Thriving Professional Practice, from the minute you enter the early years arena the power of changing lives is in your hands. We think that is worth more recognition and better understanding, Early Years wellbeing is crucial, we must feel supported and empowered to empower and professionally love and teach generations of children.
Our code of practice needs developing together - would you like to be part of this journey?
