011 - The Standard You Live Is the Standard You Set
I had a client session recently that prompted a great deal of concern for me. Moreover, it sparked some real frustration and inspired today's episode in which we dive into how the standard that you (as a leader) live, is the standard that you set.
Too many leaders and companies believe that they can have time-off policies, and that they can say it's important to take time off without actually living that behavior. Completely false. All it does is set a culture that grinds people to dust. As a leader it's your responsibility to understand that your behavior, your actions, is what sets the tone, and that your organization's culture is a direct result of that.
If you notice key people leaving, then you should first take a look at your own behavior, and then figure out how that behavior is burning you out and causing your people to leave. If you don't, you likely won't be successful for long.
