It WORKED! (The Gospel in Nicodemus) John 19:39 (Episode #212)

Nicodemus gets the best Gospel Good News/Bad News presentation of all time in John 3.  Just like reality, we don't really find out if he BELIEVES until later.  We get our first hint in John 7 when Nicodemus DEFENDS Jesus at some peril to himself.  But the real evidence is in John 19: 39.

Quick quiz:  Who buried Jesus?  Joseph of Arimethea.  Right?  Jesus was buried in his tomb.

Essential Oil of Myrrh.  75 pounds of it, if you buy it today at Walmart, you'd pay $139,000.  Nicodemus brings 75 pounds of Myrrh and Aloe and apparently meets Joseph and buries Jesus.  The critical word:  THEY.  They laid Jesus there!  Who?  Joseph and NICODEMUS.  They risk it all.  They give everything.

So we get the ARC of Nicodemus' spiritual life.  He gets an audience with Jesus alone.  He gets the best Gospel presentation of all time.  He gets lots of time to consider it fully.  He gets a chance to DEFEND Jesus.  Then we get to see if Nicodemus will act truly heroically on Jesus' behalf.  You almost cannot believe this ending.  Or the Beginning and the middle, for that matter.
