Let’s talk about Exercise and Anxiety
Imagine your heart racing, your whole body shaking on the inside, sweat coming out of every pore from the inside of the body, every breath feeling like it is the last one, the voice inside your head telling you that you are the issue - welcome to Anxiety.
Anxiety disorders are the most common group of mental health conditions in Australia and affects 1 in 4 Australians at some stage in their life.
Anxiety disorders are chronic, debilitating, and impact multiple aspects of one’s life.
The current gold standard treatments for anxiety disorders are cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and pharmacotherapy . Though efficacious, 14–43% of anxiety disorder patients do not respond to treatment and 18–48% relapse within 6 months .
There must be another way to assist individuals with anxiety?
This is why I wanted to look into what is anxiety and if there is another way to reduce it besides using CBT and pharmacotherapy.
The answer is EXERCISE!
