Evelyn Regner MEP addresses the particular impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women as frontline workers, on women in the home, and on gender-based and domestic violence. Ms Regner explores the policies and solutions needed to address these and related long-term issues of the post-COVID recovery such as fair wages, equality of pay and recognition, and the EU’s digital and green transitions.
She also discusses the work of the European Parliament Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM Committee) including the Committee’s engagement with the new EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025.
This event is part of the IIEA’s Future of the EU27 Project which is supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
About the Speaker:
Evelyn Regner MEP is Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality. In May 2019, she was elected to the European Parliament for a third consecutive term. Ms Regner first became an MEP in 2009. During her time at the European Parliament, she has served on the Special Committee on Financial Crimes, Tax Evasion and Tax Avoidance and as Vice-Chair of the Committee on Legal Affairs. Prior to this, she worked at the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) and was appointed Head of the ÖGB EU and International Department in 2009.
