On this week’s episode I sit down with my good friend Marguerite Penrose.
Her story is a story perseverance and strength, resilience and recovery.
Born from an Irish mother and a Zambian father, born with Congenital scoliosis and abandoned in St Patricks mother and baby home.
Marguerite found herself hitting the parenting jackpot when she was fostered by Michael and Noeleen at the age of 3 and then growing up with her Irish twin her sister Ciara.
Her condition resulted in many surgeries which in one case left her paralysed at the age of 8 and in her later years a chest infection that almost killed her.
After an interview with Ryan Tubridy contact was made by a nurse who worked in St Patricks mother and baby home, at the time Mags was a ward there.
We discuss her involvement in the Black Lives Matter movement, she explains her treatments at the hands of racist Ireland. I found myself trying to justify these behaviours throughout the podcast but Mags is very forgiving and her message to us all is very simple. Acceptance.
