Betty Maxwell traveled thousands of miles promoting the Miss America system as well as volunteering in countless community service projects as an official National Goodwill Ambassador of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.She is a classically trained opera singer, speaker, makeup artist and author. Her book, "Miss Unlikely: From Farm Girl to Miss America," is an autobiography in which she describes her childhood growing up on a farm in Georgia, stories from her high school years, her journey to Miss America and life after the crown. She additionally shares advice for anyone experiencing love, loss, tragedy as well as triumph. Since her reign as Miss America, Betty uses her voice to inspire others to pursue their dreams, and to never give up believing in God's plan.
