- Connor Betts: Twitter Posts on Being a Leftist, Guns | Heavy.com — Connor Betts, the Dayton, Ohio mass shooter, was a self-described “leftist,” who wrote that he would happily vote for Democrat Elizabeth Warren, praised Satan, was upset about the 2016 presidential election results, and added, “I want socialism, and i’ll not wait for the idiots to finally come round to understanding.”
- Marijuana, Mental Illness and Violence, by Walter E.Williams | Creators Syndicate — Something else that's not given much attention is that cannabis today is much more potent than it was in the 1970s, when most marijuana contained less than 2 percent THC. Today marijuana routinely contains 20 to 25 percent THC, as a result of sophisticated farming and cloning techniques. As such, it produces a stronger and quicker high. Berenson said that the difference between yesterday's marijuana and today's is like the difference between "near beer and a martini."
- Millennial loneliness poll: 22 percent say they have “no friends” - Vox — Today, members of the millennial generation are ages 23 to 38. These ought to be prime years of careers taking off and starting families, before joints really begin to ache. Yet as a recent poll and some corresponding research indicate, there’s something missing for many in this generation: companionship.
A recent poll from YouGov, a polling firm and market research company, found that 30 percent of millennials say they feel lonely. This is the highest percentage of all the generations surveyed.
- Lindsey Graham announces bipartisan deal on 'red flag' gun laws - Washington Times — Sen. Lindsey Graham said Monday he’s struck a bipartisan deal to write legislation that would encourage states to adopt “red flag” laws allowing guns to be taken from potentially dangerous individuals, and he vowed action in the wake of this weekend’s shootings.
- ‘You Got To Be Kidding Me’: El Paso Victim Shocked When Realizing ‘Gun-Wielding’ Mother Left Firearm At Home | The Daily Caller — A survivor of this weekend’s shooting in El Paso, Texas told CNN’s Chris Cuomo that he was surprised when he found out that his “gun-wielding” mother did not bring her firearm with her to Walmart.
Christopher Grant said, while in a hospital bed, that his mother made the decision not to bring her .38 special revolver before they went to the Walmart, where 22 people were killed, and 26 people were injured.
- Mass Shootings: The Elephant in the Room — Sometime in the last few decades, Americans have lost to ability to think rationally about mass killings. We are collectively trying to blame some other factor besides the individuals themselves. However, access to guns has never been cited as a reason for a mass shooting and mass killings share no correlation in ideology. No one political party, no one race or ethnicity, no one religion, etc. is a constant factor, but there are specific commonalities between mass shooters that are never widely discussed over the calls for gun control and party reform.
