The Charlotte Region isn’t known for tourism. Still, visitors spent $7.8 billion in the region during 2019. That’s more than any region in the Carolinas, including tourism magnets like Myrtle Beach and Charleston. The leisure and hospitality industry has also been one of the hardest hit industries during the COVID-19 pandemic as travel declined.
