Ep.24, Out of the Bubble. No signs of slowing down in retirement as I talk with Yvonne Copley founder of women's charity Kyra.
Welcome back to the 3rd series of Out of the Bubble and I am delighted to be back interviewing some fabulous women and sharing their inspiring stories.
My first guest is Yvonne Copley , founder of a York based womens' charity called Kyra.
After years of working in the prison service and with the Salvation Army, concentrating on rehabilitation, some people may have decided to take life a little easier as they approach their retirement but not this lady. Yvonne's experience and knowledge helped her see a clear gap in the support network for vulnerable women and decided to do something about it. Since starting Kyra 6 1/2 years ago it's grown to become an invaluable part of the York community support network for literally thousands of women from all works of life. Kyra offers secondary support which is often not available and can make the difference between someone recovering successfully to those without who may relapse. Yvonne and Kyra have the support from over 40 volunteers and the demand for their services is continuously on the increase.
Favourite song- I Have A Dream -Abba
