Is Ireland really the land of a thousand welcomes? Some years ago I met a very interesting guy called Lucky Khambule is a volunteer co-ordinator for MASI, the Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland and campaigns for asylum seekers rights. He seeks to give dignity, control and importantly a voice to the dispossessed that find themselves on this island. In this podcast, Lucky tells his story of seeking asylum in Ireland. It is a story of a life disassembled and power taken away. It is a story of leadership in an unlikely place and the creation of a protest movement that achieved its aims peacefully and with respect. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did.
