Moment of Meditation: Worthy (Revelation 4:11)
Thou art worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honour and power,
because Thou didst create all things;
by Thy will they were created, and have their being!
(Revelation 4:11 NEB)
Are you worthy to be in worship on Sunday? No, you're not. No one is worthy to be in worship. We're all sinners. We are not worthy to be in God's holy presence. He condescended to us. Jesus Christ came in the flesh. He made us worthy to be in the Father's presence. He took our sins upon Himself.
Worship comes from the Old English word worthship. Worthship gives honor and proclaims glory and power to someone who IS worthy to be worshipped. Worship is about WHO we are honoring and not HOW we honor Him.
Many people who leave a church do so because "I didn't get anything out of worship." You're not in worship to GET anything out of it. The fact that you're in worship should be enough. You yourself are not worthy to be in God's presence. But Jesus has made you worthy of worshipping through His blood. Amen.
