Moment of Meditation: Anointed by the Spirit

MESSIANIC PROPHECY: ANOINTED BY THE SPIRIT

Prophecy:

The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him—

The Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,

The Spirit of counsel and of power,

The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.

Isaiah 11:2

Fulfillment:

Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. … Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
Luke 4:18-21

Thought:

In his hometown synagogue, Jesus took His turn reading the Scriptures during the Sabbath service. But this Sabbath was different. The Scripture was being fulfilled right before their eyes. The Holy Spirit was anointing Jesus to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. The great time of God’s blessing that is yours forever through Jesus. Amen.
