Moment of Meditation: Taken to Egypt

MESSIANIC PROPHECY: TAKEN TO EGYPT

Prophecy:

When Israel was a child, I loved him,

And out of Egypt I called my son.

Hosea 11:1

Fulfillment:

When [the Magi] had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill Him.”

So he got up, took the child and His mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod.

Matthew 2:13-15

Thought:

Israel had once sought refuge in Egypt from a worldwide famine. After four hundred thirty years, God had to deliver them from evil Pharaoh’s slavery through His servant Moses. Now the child Jesus, only about two years old, had to seek refuge because another angry king wanted Him dead. Even as a child, Jesus was not liked by the authorities because He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Amen.
