Moment of Meditation: Tell the Rich (1 Timothy 6:17-19)
Tell those who are rich in this age not to be arrogant
and not to place their confidence in anything as uncertain as riches.
Instead, let them place their confidence in God,
who lavishly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
They are to do good, to be rich in good actions,
to be generous, and to share.
By doing this they store up a treasure for themselves
that is a good foundation for the future,
so that they can keep their hold on the life that is real.
(1 Timothy 6:17-19 ISV)
Have you been blessed by God with great riches? Don't be arrogant about it. Instead use it to do good for the people around you. Have you been blessed by God with being broke? Don't be depressed about it. Use it to do good for the people around you.
Everyone should work to better the people around them. Not for your own ego. For the sake of your soul. Building upon the foundation of your faith, your confidence in God, you are "storing up treasures for yourselves in Heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal, because where your treasure is, they your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:20-21).
Where's your heart? In this age or in the age to come? If it's not in the age to come, it's time to refocus and redo your priorities. Treasures on this earth will do us no good in the age to come. Keep your focus on things that will last from this age to the next. Amen.
