Moment of Meditation: Because You Are Young (1 Timothy 4:12)
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young.
(1 Timothy 4:12)
Youth is often seen as a great benefit. Vitality. Energizing. Vibrant. Youth can also be seen as a great detriment. Inexperienced. Immature. Unfit.
Many people hearing this devotion this morning are likely older than their pastor. This was the case with Timothy in Ephesus as well. He was a young punk pastor who looked more like many of his members' children and grandchildren. Many wouldn't come to him because he just wouldn't understand.
Paul encourages Timothy not to let those who looked down on his youth to get to him. No one should discount a pastor's call just because he's young. God knows that a young pastor is better for a congregation than an older pastor at different points in the congregation's life. That's why God sends a young pastor. For the congregation in Ephesus, young Timothy was who God knew would be best for them.
Whether your pastor is older or younger than you, thank God for your pastor. Thank Him for allowing your pastor to shepherd your congregation. God knows what He is doing. Amen.
