Moment of Meditation: Our Hope in the Living God (1 Timothy 4:9-10)

This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance
(and for this we labor and strive),
that we have put our hope in the living God.
(1 Timothy 4:9-10)

Our Hope in the Living God

Why is the Christian's hope in the living God? Because the living God has made us His children. Paul and Timothy labored and strove to make sure that everyone would accept and understand the greatness of our hope. This hope is not wishful thinking. This hope is the surety and certainty that all who are baptized are children of the living God.

What does it mean to put our hope in Him? Exactly what God requires of us in the First Commandment. "We should fear, love and trust in God above all things." By fearing, loving and trusting God, our hope lies in the heart of God our Father who loves us so much that He gave us Jesus. And that statement deserves your full acceptance. Amen.
