Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales;
rather, train yourself to be godly.
(1 Timothy 4:7)
Mythology and old wives' tales tend to give us a mixed message of how the world works. There are a great number of times that they contradict each other to further confuse the true meaning. But that's not what it means to be godly.
Being godly is following the example of our Lord Jesus. Being godly takes the straightforward message of the Law and the Gospel to heart. No mixed messages here. Straight talk from God about what He expects of you and how you cannot fulfill it. How Jesus came to fulfill the Law for you. How you are to live in Him.
God's Word doesn't mince words. It doesn't give mixed messages. It tells you as it is. You're a sinner. Jesus is your Savior. Being godly is simply believing that and living that in your daily life. Amen.
