Moment of Meditation: Nothing to be Rejected (1 Timothy 4:4)
Original Broadcast: October 2011
For everything God created is good,
and nothing is to be rejected
if it is received in thanksgiving.
(1 Timothy 4:4)
What would happen on Christmas or your wedding anniversary if the person you gave a gift to wasn't thankful for the gift? What if they rejected it? Wouldn't you be devastated? How do you think God feels every time you aren't thankful for what He has given you? When you take His gifts for granted?
God wants everything in all creation to be accepted with thanksgiving. This means that there is nothing in this world, except sin, that should be rejected. God has not given us sin. He has died for sin. He gives this forgiveness to you as a gift. It's yours freely, but are you thankful for it? Or have you rejected it?
Many reject it unconsciously. Life becomes too busy for church and faith. "We'll get around to it when we find time," they say. God says, "In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you" (Isaiah 49:8). St. Paul continues the thought, "Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2). Life should never get so busy that you reject being in God's house. The fact that you have the privilege to worship Him should bring you there.
God is not to be rejected. Those who reject Him He will reject on the Last Day. Look at your life. Are you too busy for God? If so, reorder your priorities to be in worship on the Lord's Day. Amen.
