Moment of Meditation: Delayed (1 Timothy 3:14-15)
Although I hope to come to you soon,
I am writing you these instructions so that,
if I am delayed, you will know how people ought
to conduct themselves in God's household.
(1 Timothy 3:14-15)
St. Paul was delayed in his intended visit to Ephesus and his student, his "son in the faith" (1 Timothy 1:2), Timothy. Paul wanted to give the instructions enclosed in his first epistle to the young pastor in person. However, that was not likely to happen as he was imprisoned.
This delay was nothing new to Paul. Throughout his three missionary journeys, Paul was often delayed in his travel arrangements. Many times there were places he wanted to go, but he would be hindered by circumstances beyond his control.
Delays are inevitable. But one delay need not happen in your life. The delay of being the Christian God has called you to be. Don't delay. Be in the Word. Share your faith. Live the life God has called you to live. Amen.
