Moment of Meditation: Quietness (1 Timothy 2:11)
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
(1 Timothy 2:11)
St. Paul sounds harsh when he tells women to learn in quietness and submission. It's not harshness. It's a calling to go with nature. Women are better listeners than men. I'll admit it. That's one reason why men are more suited to be pastors. If you come to us and confess your sins, we're bound by our ordination vows not to divulge them. Not that we'd probably remember what was said anyway.
Think about it. When you have a problem and want to talk it out, who do you go to? Your mom. Your sister. Your best girlfriend. It's almost always a woman who is the answer to the question. Women are better listeners. That's one reason Paul gives that women shouldn't be pastors. Their wonderful, natural role as the quiet listener. Amen.
