Moment of Meditation: Pray for All (1 Timothy 2:1)
Original Broadcast: February 2011
Monthly Theme: Pastoral Epistles (1 Timothy 1-2)
First of all, therefore, I urge that supplications,
prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings
be made for all people.
(1 Timothy 2:1)
Paul gives Timothy the rundown for all four types of prayers. Supplications. Earnest desires. Prayers. Speaking to God. Intercessions. Mediations for reconciliation. Thanksgivings. Being thankful for God's blessings.
These prayers he urges to be said for all people. No one is exempt from your prayers. Your spouse. Your parents. Your children. Your best friend. Your worst enemy. It doesn't matter. You're called to pray for everyone.
How hard is it to pray for everyone? For some people, it can be very difficult. That person who cuts you off in traffic. That person driving so slow in front of you. The terrorists who want to kill you because you are who you are. These can be difficult to pray for, but God commands it. Pray for everyone. Everyone needs them. Amen.
