Moment of Meditation: Contentment (1 Timothy 6:6)
Original Broadcast: September 2010
Monthly Theme: Ninth Commandment
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
(1 Timothy 6:6)
The commandments on coveting rest securely on the idea of contentment. Contentment is "a resting or satisfaction of mind without disquiet" (Webster's Dictionary).
Being content, being satisfied with our position in life, is the greatest gain we can have. The happiest people in this world may not have the greatest clothes, the greatest car, the greatest house. But they are content with what they have. They are satisfied with their life, their work and their relationships.
Are you one of them? If not, can you be? Absolutely. We have everything we need through God's calling us to be His children. We have the promise of everlasting life. Paradise is waiting for us. With these things being ours in Jesus Christ, how can you not be content with your position in life? Amen.
