Moment of Meditation: Killing (Genesis 9:6)

[God said:] "Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed,
for God made man in His own image."
(Genesis 9:6)

Killing

After the Flood, God gave the directive to Noah and to all his descendants that murder is not acceptable in His sight. Man was made in God's own image. Killing someone else can be seen as an acting out on our part a desire to kill God. Each and every human being has been created by God in the womb and should be cherished above all things in this world.

As we look at different foci of this commandment, let us all see that the greatest gift that God gives to us--aside from salvation--is life. Amen.
