Monthly Theme: Fourth Commandment
One who is taught the Word must share all good things with the one who teaches.
(Galatians 6:6)
One of the great benefits of the Office of the Holy Ministry is the fatherhood given to those who occupy it. The preaching and teaching tasks of the ministry do offer the position of spiritual father to those who are taught. This is why there is such a need to be in public Bible study. The give and take between teacher and student makes Bible study so beneficial for everyone.
In a public Bible study, we share our experiences, our understanding, our knowledge, our struggles and our hardships. We help each other better understand things with this sharing. This is St. Paul's exhortation to the Galatians. The desire to share how God has led us through our lives as we study His Word. We look at the "lamp to our feet and a light for our path" (Psalm 119:105) as it casts light upon where we've been and where we're going.
Mutual sharing of experiences opens new doors of possibilities for everyone. As Jesus tells the church in Philadelphia: "I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut" (Revelation 3:8). These public Bible studies are those open doors that God sets before you. It's your choice whether you walk through or not. I invite you to walk through our open doors any Sunday and Wednesday mornings. Amen.
