Moment of Meditation: Evolved (2 Peter 3:5-6)

They deliberately forget that long ago by God's Word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water.
By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.
(2 Peter 3:5-6)

Evolved

We tend to think of ourselves as an evolved society. As Americans, we look at the preceding world powers in history and scoff at their lack of knowledge of things we take for granted. We tend to think of ourselves as having evolved to be better than them.

What are we doing? We're actually doing the same thing that the people in the time of Noah were doing. We "deliberately forget" God.

Evolution takes place without God. Now, we're looking at a world and a country that has evolved to a point past the "need" for God. But God reminds us through His Word what happens to those who forget or move past their need for Him. They wind up being swept away by their own desires and out of God's presence forever.

Have you evolved to a point where you don't need God anymore? I hope not, but it is not too late to come back. The Last Day has not arrived yet and you may still repent so that God may move you to truly grow in His Word so that you will not be swept away on the Last Day. Amen.
