Monthly Theme: Stewardship
The earth is YHWH's and the fulness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein.
(Psalm 24:1)
David brings about the next logical step we need to see in our understanding of proper Christian stewardship. Everything belongs to God. He created it and He has entrusted it to us.
With that trust, we become, in a sense, renters of this world. Although we may own land or houses, we still have no control over the land after we're gone. We're here for as long as our "rent check" holds out. Our "rent check" is the length of days that God has assigned to each one of us.
Those who own rental property understand that the Owner wants the Renter to manage the property well. So it is with God. He wants us to properly manage our lives and all its resources, including the world around us, for His purposes. Everything we do should be done with thanksgiving for the Owner who has given us the privilege of living in His world. Not forgetting the Owner, we'll be better Renters and provide positive examples to those around us of proper Christian stewardship. How's your "rent check" being used? Amen.
