Moment of Meditation: Newness of Life (Romans 6:4)
Original Broadcast: September 2008
Monthly Theme: Stewardship
We were buried therefore with Him by Baptism into death,
in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead
by the glory of God the Father,
we too might walk in newness of life.
(Romans 6:4)
This month we'll meditate on Christian stewardship. What is it? What isn't it? That we'll see firsthand as we look at St. Paul's words to the Romans this morning.
"We were buried ... with Him." We are connected to Jesus in His death. It is His death that grants us "newness of life." Proper Christian stewardship starts with the acknowledgment that we are God's stewards. He owns us through His Son's death and resurrection.
As that connects us to our salvation, it also shows that Christian stewardship goes far beyond what you put into the offering plate on Sunday morning. Christian stewardship IS the "newness of life" that St. Paul says we have through Jesus Christ. Has your life been a good example or bad example of Christian stewardship? Keep following our meditations this month to make it even better. Amen.
