Moment of Meditation: Last Enemy (1 Corinthians 15:26)
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
(1 Corinthians 15:26)
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!!
When Christ destroys His enemies, the last enemy will be death. Not that His resurrection does not trump the power of death. His resurrection shows that death has no power over Him. But ... how many good, faithful, God-fearing Christians do you know who have died? Too many. Death still has power over us. Jesus conquered death in His own body, but it still plagues us today.
Death is the one certainty that we all dread yet Christians also anticipate. Many people have come along to try to say that death is a natural part of life. Death ain't natural. Death is not what God had intended for us. Death was only brought about because of the sin of our first parents. That is why we dread death.
Dear Christian friends, you have no need to dread death. In fact, you should anticipate death because God through Jesus has made death not the end but the beginning. Death for a Christian is simply a gateway into everlasting life in Heaven with God. That is what we anticipate greatly. Unfortunately, many of us will have to endure the pangs of death in order to celebrate that reality more grandly, but Paul reminds us elsewhere, "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us" (Romans 8:18). Think about that today. Amen.
