Moment of Meditation: His Steadfast Love Endures Forever (Psalm 136)

"For His steadfast love endures forever."
(Psalm 136:1b)

The hundred and thirty-sixth psalm has our great refrain for meditation this morning. In fact, it has our refrain twenty-six times. Every verse ends with the words, "for His steadfast love endures forever".

The psalmist goes through the entire history of the children of Israel from Creation until they arrived at the Promised Land. He starts with the greatness of God. He goes through the account of Creation then through the Exodus and then up to the banks of the Jordan River.

The praise of the psalmist isn't just the great abstraction of all the greatness of God. The praise comes down to the very concrete. The praise of God's working through each and every one of our lives.

The God praised for delivering the children of Israel through the Red Sea is the same God who works in your life today. "For His steadfast love endures forever." Amen.
