On this episode of Suicide Noted, I talk with Helena. Helena lives in Florida and she is a suicide attempt survivor.
Helena, a 24 year old living in Tampa, Florida, spends her free time exercising, pet sitting, reading, and visiting Universal Studios. She has experience raising and showing cows at county and state fairs through the National FFA organization and continues to mentor middle and high school students throughout their agricultural experiences.
She earned her Bachelorโs in psychology from USF and currently works on a research study looking at interventions for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. As a result of a suicide attempt in 2016, she has neuropathy in her left arm, severely limiting the dexterity in her left hand. She works full-time and lives with her family, including three cats and two dogs.
