004: Relationships are Opportunity for Growth Part 2
This episode is Part 2 of making connections on what you may need to be healed within your relationships.
Last week, I shared about my relationships with my paternal grandmother who became a mother figure to me. But I had always felt that she put her son and the importance of what others thought before our relationship. Then my relationship with my biological mother made me feel separate from others at a very young age.
After experiencing the trauma from my biological parents, it brought up some triggers that affected my relationships with other people, including my adoptive parents.
It was a cycle.
I was living mostly in fear and through that emotion, I felt disconnected. I felt very much alone in my experience and it was potentially what blocked me from having a true connection with others – and the source of love.
I failed to look at things through the lens of love.
Today, I talk about my unique relationship with my adoptive parents, how I repeatedly saw patterns of fear, rejection, separation, and self-blame, and how communication ultimately brought us back to each other and allowed healing to take place.
