Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder
Religion & Spirituality:Christianity
Jesus is and has been in the business of making eyes from mud. That is how you got them and can read this. That is how I got them and can write this. Since we are from the dust, what else is new? What makes it so interesting here in John 9 is that this man had eyes that didn't work, and then Jesus made them work. Because this was done after birth, it is a miracle. This causes quite a stir.
This part of the passage reveals a bunch of people who are really good examples of being BAD examples. Of course the Pharisees are in this group, they almost always are. ( Not Nicodemus! Episodes 209-212!) But big shocker here: the blind man's PARENTS. They put him on the street as a beggar. They fear. They don't want to be put out of the synagogue. They refuse to risk anything before the authorities. They keep any exposure pointed toward their own son.
So what of our eyes? So what of our belief? The blind man sees the Lord WITHOUT his eyes. He becomes seeing of body and soul. He gets the eyes fixed that are inside his head and the eyes of his soul. His parents and the pharisees? Not so much. Let's learn as we listen to their particularly bad examples.
