After 3 tries to run sub 3 in 2019, finishing in 3:05, 3:01 & 3:00:19. I ran a sub 3 marathon finishing in 2:56:19 at the 2020 Dorney Lake Marathon.
This is the second of two episodes. This second episode is a debrief with my coach where we talk in detail about the training, race strategy and the race itself.
The first episode (#54) covered my thoughts immediately post race, and a few days afterwards. In this episode John explains why most coaches, runners, social media gurus, and journalists have it wrong about ‘the shoes’.
He explains some of the real reasons why people, especially (clean) elites are running faster. We examine why people get stuck in the sub 3hr quagmire and don’t improve enough after breaking 3hrs, we look at what they need to do to jump from 2:5X to 2:3X.
